Herbal Detox is a colon cleanser that is manufactured and carried by the nutritional supply company GNC.

This product is supposed to help you quickly and effectively get rid of wastes that build up in your body.

Even though Herbal Detox seems to be an all natural method for cleansing your system, we decided to take a further look into Herbal Detox’s formula to see what it has to offer.

What Does Herbal Detox Do?

Because Herbal Detox has been designed by GNC to work in just seven days, we assumed that this product would be filled with ingredients that have shown themselves to be touch colon cleansers.

After looking at some of Herbal Detox’s ingredients, we can see that our assumption was correct. Even though, true to its name, Herbal Detox does not use any ingredients that aren’t all natural or herbal, there are many potent ingredients in its formula.

For example, fennel seed, an ingredient in Herbal Detox, is also used to make the highly alcoholic beverage, absinth. Fennel has been categorized as a stimulant laxative which means it works to stimulate your bowels, thus forcing your body have a bowel movement.

Stimulant laxatives can be dangerous because they can cause abdominal cramping, bloating and diarrhea. For this reason, the FDA has banned fennel seed from all over the counter laxatives.

Another ingredient, hydrangea root, has been shown to be toxic in large amounts. All parts of the hydrangea flower include cyanogenic glycosides, which means they release the toxic hydrogen cyanide.

Even though the cyanide is only present in very small amounts, it can still cause symptoms of toxicity like nausea, green urine, vomiting, fever and chills.

Does It Work?

Even though including ingredients that have been shown to react in a very volatile way with the body can be effective at clearing out your system, it is not the only way.

Our Opinion:

We believe that Herbal Detox definitely has what it takes to force your body to expel everything that it is holding hostage.

However, we cannot ignore the fact that Herbal Detox chooses to cleanse your body in a way that puts your own health at risk. For this reason, we cannot recommend this product.
