Phenocal
Phenocal is a weight loss supplement claiming to facilitate weight loss by “suppressing your appetite, revving up your metabolism, and maximizing your workout performance increasing your weight loss potential.” This product asserts that they only contain “clinically proven” ingredients in their superior formulation and that the implementation of their product into your weight loss routine will not only ensure weight loss but can also help you to maintain that weight loss for a longer and happier life. This product contains a long list of ingredient but the ones we’d like to discuss are hoodia gordonii, green tea, glucomannan, yerba mate, 7-keto DHEA, and evodiamine.
The Good
This formula does contain some well known weight loss agents. Green tea in particular is a very popular choice in a majority of weight loss supplements due to its high rate of thermogenic fat burning power and its energizing abilities due to its high caffeine content. This ingredient has been studied and thoroughly confirmed as an asset to a weight loss program. Other ingredients that have some established weight loss powers are glucomannan, yerba mate, 7-keto DHEA, and evodiamine.
The Bad
Hoodia gordonii is a completely useless ingredient. Hoodia (as it is most often called) is a South African plant that has gained an unwarranted reputation as a sensational appetite suppressant. The fact is that study after study, clinical trial after clinical trial, has all come to the same conclusion and that is simply this; hoodia doesn’t work! Don’t be suckered into the hype. Weight loss supplement manufacturers are more than aware of hoodia’s inability to perform but hey continue to include in their products in order to profit off the misconceptions of the public. Furthermore, hoodia can no longer be exported from South Africa so we aren’t sure how anyone is getting their hands on it anyway.
On top of the worthless hoodia being in this formula, the truth is that none of the proven ingredients are implemented in the correct amounts which render them completely null of their potency. The side effects of this product include insomnia, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, vomiting, and headache. One side effect you’ll avoid, however, is weight loss.
The Skinny
Phenocal is a product that just can’t help you. This formula is made up of inconsequential amounts and ingredients that can best be described as “fillers.” We do not recommend Phenocal.
