Shake Weight
You’ve seen the meatheads, lifting yet another set of monstrous weights one more time to be bigger, “better”, and more shapely. That’s not you. You want to be toned, not huge, which is what Shake Weight promises! The problem is that in order to get toned, you have to lift the lighter weights a million times! Who wants to do that! So how is Shake Weight better?
According to ads, the Shake Weight uses a specialized technology to make your muscles work harder. In fact, your muscles are guaranteed to “burn” in just 6 minutes or your money back. Obviously, creating a resistance can make it considerably easier. But you have to wonder, is the Shake Weight worth your hard earned $19.99? You would think it wouldn’t take that much. But let’s see for ourselves.
How the Shake Weight Works
As much as I may make fun of the Shake Weight, and I do, it isn’t a complete waste of money. Yes, it’s embarrassing, a little funny, and a common gag gift. And it’s only 2.5 pounds. So you wouldn’t think it would do much.
But even at just 2.5 pounds, the Shake Weight creates serious resistance. It’s marketed mostly for women, who want to get toned, but do not necessarily want to bulk up. It’s not for the everyday “meathead” who wants huge arms and no neck.
Why does that matter? If you want to get toned, experts suggest that you stick to lighter weights anyway. Yes, 2.5 pounds may seem to light even for that. But when you shake the Shake Weight, it makes 2.5 pounds seem like 10 or even 15 pounds. And because of what seems like a really small motion, it may even be more effective than those heavier weights.
Disadvantages of the Shake Weight
There have been some complaints about customer service, and obviously, the Shake Weight only works one part of the body. So realistically, it’s not going to burn fat, and you are not going to get killer abs. But at just $19.99, obviously it’s no treadmill.
What Do Users Think?
Users seem to think that the Shake Weight works. Most users I’ve seen are pleased, though many would not buy it online or by phone. The best experiences seem to come from users who bought from Target or some other local store. But as far as I can tell, the Shake Weight seems to do its job. It seems to do exactly what it’s supposed to.
Conclusion
The Shake Weight is a limited, but impressive product. It does its job. The infomercials are not misleading, and the complaints I have seen about the Shake Weight (not the customer service), seem to be from individuals who believed that the Shake Weight was meant to be something else.
