Vita Slim
If you read Vita Slim’s extensive list of “benefits”, you might think that Vita Slim was the most miraculous multivitamin to ever hit the market! And why shouldn’t a simple vitamin formula promote weight loss…..oh wait, vitamins don’t do that. Okay, backtrack a little. Let’s look at the ingredients and see where Vita Slim might get that idea.
The “Fat Burning” Vitamins in Vita Slim
Vitamin A – Vitamin A is a common ingredient in many skin and acne treatments, and it has been used to increase skin shedding, fight acne, etc. But vitamin A does not actually promote weight loss.
Beta Carotene – Beta carotene is the red coloring you see in a lot of different foods. It’s considered by many to be a healthy antioxidant, and it can improve the function of vitamin A.
Vitamin C – You know what vitamin C is. Most people take it to avoid the common cold and boost the immune system. It works as a natural antioxidant, and of course, it does boost immune function. But vitamin C doesn’t actually promote any weight loss results.
Vitamin D3 – Vitamin D3 is mostly found in calcium supplements, because it enhances the absorption of calcium for strong bones and teeth. But that’s not the same as fat burning.
Vitamin E – Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant and one of three vitamins that is especially good for the skin. But it has nothing to do with weight loss.
Vitamin B1 – Vitamin B1 seems to improve cellular uptake, tissue distribution, and excretion, but not weight loss
Vitamin B2 – Vitamin B2 improves intestinal health, strengthens red blood cells (immune health), and it can prevent neonatal jaundice.
Vitamin B3 – Vitamin B3 is otherwise known as niacin, and it is essential for the health of the eyes, skin, and hair.
Vitamin B6 – Vitamin B6 has been used for better amino acid metabolism, gluconeogenesis, and lipid metabolism. But most use it to fight fatigue.
Folate – Folate improves reproduction, heart disease, stroke, and it prevents problems with cancer. But it has never actually been known to promote weight loss
Vitamin B12 – Vitamin B12 is used by most for its capacity to increase energy levels and fight fatigue.
Biotin – Biotin has been used to fight seborrheic dermatitis and prevent type 2 diabetes.
Pantothenic acid – Used for testicular torsion, diabetic ulceration, and it seems to promote better healing.
Calcium – Calcium is primarily used for its ability to contribute to better bone and teeth health.
Iodine – Most focus on the idea that it benefits the thyroid. But the only places where iodine places that big a part is in third world countries.
Magnesium – Magnesium has been used to improve bone health, reverse osteoporosis, and prevent heart attacks and migraines.
Copper – Copper is largely used to improve the absorption of iron while simultaneously improving bones, veins, heartbeat, and white blood cells, even preventing birth defects. But it doesn’t actually promote weight loss.
Chromium – Chromium has been used in some diabetic patients to better control blood sugar.
Potassium – A natural electrolyte, this improves hydrations and also controls blood sugar, anxiety, and blood pressure.
Green tea – Green tea is extremely popular, being used to burn fat and promote antioxidant benefits at the same time. But it does not work if you are not using the clinically proven amounts, which Vita Slim doesn’t.
Caffeine – Caffeine is commonly used for fat burning, and it’s the basis for quite a few other fat burning ingredients. But it doesn’t work unless you use the right amounts, and 37.5mg (which is what Vita Slim uses), is not enough.
The Skinny
Next time you want a natural way to lose weight, reach for a cup of green tea. You’ll spend less, because Vita Slim typically sells for about $15, and you will get more green tea and more fat burning caffeine in a single cup of green tea than you would in a dose of Vita Slim.
Vita Slim is primarily based on vitamins that just don’t promote weight loss. If they did, I’d be the first in line to buy a few extra bottles of the Costco adult gummy multivitamins every time I ran out. Yes, vitamins in any form do have certain healthy and even essential benefits. But weight loss is just not among them.
