Weight Loss Drugs That Work
With such a wide variety of weight loss pills flooding the market, how do you know which one to choose? Appetite suppressants, carbohydrate blockers, fat blockers—the list seems to go on and on and on….
So rather than standing in your local pharmacy and reading labels for hours at a time, I’ve summarized the list into a few standard types in order to help you save time and money on products you don’t want or need.
Appetite Suppressants
Just like the name sounds, Appetite Suppressants curb your desire to eat. The less you eat the less fat you store.
You know that feeling you get when you know you’re not hungry but still want to eat anyway? So you end up snacking on some chips, just to hold you over until dinner, and then you realize that you still have half that granola bar tucked away in a cupboard, and before you know it, you’ve just consumed an extra 750 calories in junk food when you weren’t even hungry to begin with. Appetite Suppressants help you to reduce those cravings, giving you a little more control over your diet.
Carbohydrate Blockers
These drugs work by reducing your body’s ability to absorb carbohydrates. If your body can’t absorb as many carbs, then it won’t be able to store as much fat.
When you eat a piece of bread, or slice of pizza, your body breaks the food down into little pieces. Carbohydrates are long strings of sugar molecules which are then absorbed into the blood stream, and from there are burned for energy. However, if you have more sugar in your blood stream that you can use, your body stores it into fat for later. Carbohydrate blocker reduces the ability to turn those extra molecules from turning into fat.
Fat blockers
Fat blockers make the fat your food indigestible, so it runs through your system without being absorbed.
No fat=no fat.
A good majority of fat blockers use Chitosan which has the ability to combine with the lipids (fats) in your system, like a fat magnet, making them difficult to digest. Consequently, you’ll *ahem* excrete what you can’t digest. Beware using high amounts of Chitosan, however, because it may result in undesired…loose motion.
Thermogenics
Thermogenics are designed to increase your metabolism. The faster you burn those calories, the more weight you’ll lose.
If you understand a little extra Latin, you can look at the name and see that Thermogenics involve temperature. These drugs raise your body temperature by stimulating your nervous system, and consequently it will ”burn” more calories. Short term use of Thermogenic pills will result in excellent weight loss. However, exercise caution. Long term use results in an adaptive tolerance to the drug, leading to little or no fat loss.
Conclusion
Although there are many more weight loss drugs on the market, (such as Cortisol Blockers, Thyroid regulators, Fiber fillers, etc.), understanding these main four types will help you choose which weight loss drug is right for you.
Whether you’re starting a new health routine or simply trying to shed those extra pounds, the right weight loss supplements can easily help you reach your current weight goal.
